With the red carpet premiere of The Avengers recently behind us, and the theatrical release less than a month away, there is no shortage of Marvel Studios news and happenings to report on. So have a seat, grab a drink, and read on for a massive helping of Marvel news.

Early Buzz for The Avengers

First off, The Avengers premiere was recently held in Hollywood, and while full reviews have been embargoed, Twitter is abuzz with reactions. I've posted a few below:

So that's certainly encouraging, to say the least. Now as long as TDK turns out as awesome as we're all expecting it to be, we're in for one helluva summer.

The Avengers Cast and Crew Returning to Shoot One Last Scene?

That's not the only Avengers news that came out of the premiere however. MINOR MINOR SPOILERS. The Avengers-canon Marvel films have been known for their trademark post-credits stingers. Well apparently, The Avengers had one, but it was in between the title cards and the credits crawl; unlike most of the films where it's shown at the very, very end. Well yesterday during a press junket for the film, Robert Downey Jr. let fly that the cast and crew were going to shoot one last scene that night.

Some interpreted it as a joke, but many in attendance reported that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige seemed noticeably irked by the statement. Downey then went on to say that he wasn't kidding, and ended by dropping a, "No more questions!" as the cast and crew left the stage.

A SlashFilm writer interviewed Feige after the junket, and he had this comment to make, "Do you always trust everything Robert Downey Jr. tells you?" Joss Whedon later went on to also deny the additional scene, which would seemingly put out the rumor. That is until Mark Ruffalo told The Playlist that,

We’re shooting a scene tonight. I’m not sure exactly where it’s gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, Here’s some wardrobe. We don’t know where you’re going to be or what you’re doing.

We asked if it will be in the The Avengers when it hits theaters.

Yeah.

So I’m like, All right, when are we doing that?

Today after we’re done.

It's certainly not out of the question. After all, the infamous Samuel L. Jackson reveal in Iron Man was left out of the versions screened for the press. It's also interesting to note that Whedon directed the post-credits scene for Thor as a lead-in to The Avengers. Could this scene possibly hint towards Cap 2, Thor 2, Iron Man 3... or perhaps... something new? I'm certainly intrigued.

Cap America/Peggy Carter Reunion Cut from The Avengers

If you were hoping to see Rogers and Carter reunite after their heartbreaking goodbye at the end of Captain America, you unfortunately won't be getting that in The Avengers. Whedon considered the scene, calling it one of the best he wrote, but ultimately decided that it wouldn't make it into the final film.

One of the best scenes that I wrote was the beautiful and poignant scene between Steve and Peggy [Carter] that takes place in the present. And I was the one who was like, Guys, we need to lose this. It was killing the rhythm of the thing. And we did have a lot of Cap, because he really was the ‘in’ for me. I really do feel a sense of loss about what’s happening in our culture, loss of the idea of community, loss of health care and welfare and all sorts of things. I was spending a lot of time having him say it, and then I cut that.

That's certainly a shame they couldn't fit it in, but hopefully we'll get a chance to see more on that story in Captain America 2.

25 Cinemark Locations to Host Six-Film Avengers Marathons on May 3

While I plan on cheaper option of watching all five films (plus the two shorts, because they're awesome) on DVD with some friends before the premiere, Cinemark is giving fans the very tempting choice of watching all them back-to-back on the big screen.

25 Cinemark locations will be hosting an all-day marathon starting on Thursday, May 3 and ending with a midnight showing of The Avengers. Tickets are a very reasonable $20, and will give admission to the five films as well as The Avengers itself. In addition, attendees will receive a movie poster and a collectible pin to commemorate the event, as well as discounts on food and snacks. Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers will all be shown in 3D. That's a lot of bang for your buck.
