A job listing discovered on LinkedIn seems to indicate that Sony is aggressively pursuing voice recognition technology. A post from April 30, 2013 sough a “Speech Recognition Engineering Intern” as well as someone capable of handling “speech noise reduction, speech detection, recognition, noisy rejection, and grammar processing under various environments.”
Sony announced today the PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection will be hitting North American stores on July 9 for $49.99.
In the past few years, Nintendo has been hard at work ruining its reputation with its more dedicated fanbase, and this news is not going to help much. The company has begun claiming ad revenue on user created "Let's Play" and similar videos on YouTube. They're not blocking them outright, only forcing them to run ads with the revenue going to Nintendo.
A debut teaser has emerged for Batman: Arkham Origins, giving us a look at a showdown between the dark knight and Deathstroke. The upcoming game will be developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, taking over from Rocksteady. Origins will be set before the events of Arkham Asylum, following a younger Batman as he steps into his role as Gotham's protector.
A surprise update for TF2 just went live today, and despite the suddenness of it all, there's quite a bit of new content. It's called the "Robotic Boogaloo" update, and to make things even more interesting, it was entirely fan created. It includes a trailer, a brand new comic, and a veritable buttload of new hats. Check it out at www.tf2.com
Is it just me or has there been a sudden surplus of promising new sci-fi trailers? The latest to make the rounds is Europa Report, an indie flick about a present-day space voyage to one of Jupiter's moons. The trailer is a gritty found-footage treat — a presumably "hard science fiction" take on space travel. In other words, this ain't Star Trek Into Darkness, boys and girls. This is real (sort of).
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is coming to the PC. The news was announced by the creator of the series Hideo Kojima, speaking on his HideRadio podcast, and confirmed by Platinum Games creative producer Jean Pierre Kellams on Twitter. Developers have stated that they had to concentrate on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions before moving on to the PC port.
Daisuki.net, a free anime streaming service, is launching a giveaway campaign where over a thousand winners will receive awesome prizes. A few of these prizes include Xbox 360 and PS3 games, costume DLCs, trading cards, anime posters and collector figurines, with more prizes to be added daily.
After a rocky start, I bust out my trusty whip and show that I can whip it, quite adequately.
Wednesdays, they are always the best days. They always open a new door into the universes that I love. Welcome to This Week in Awesomeness! Each week I scan and crop my favorite panels from this week’s batch of new comics. Come and enjoy some amazing art and perhaps discover your next favorite comic!
First we had Pitch Black (2000), then Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (a 2004 animated movie I never intend to watch). Now Universal is giving us a new addition to the series. Yes, Richard B. Riddick (Diesel) is back as the anti-hero in a film simply titled Riddick. It’s been 13 years since the first film, 9 since the last, and doing the math, that makes me feel a lot older than I actually am.
At the end of the season, it’s more difficult than ever for a show to mess with the audience’s expectations. We know the setup, the stakes, and the characters as well as we possibly can, so there’s only so much room for big surprises. Will the hero foil the villain’s evil plan? Probably. Who will be killed off? Not anyone who’s already had their contract renewed! Will sets that they don’t need for season two be blown up? You’d better believe it! But in between, Arrow does an admirable job of bringing everything together with a few zigs and zags along the way.
According to Nintendo’s Facebook page, the company will be airing its latest Nintendo Direct broadcast tomorrow, May 17th at 10am EST. This installment will focus on upcoming summer Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games. If you do not have a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, you can view it live on Facebook, as well as RSVP for the event. I hope, like most Nintendo fans, there is more news on the upcoming Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past sequel, such as its complete name and exact release date.
